Let’s finish
your book

Hey there, I’m Amy.

I’m a book-development consultant, publishing strategist, and longtime publishing professional.

I help highly experienced, mission-driven professionals craft publisher-grade nonfiction books.

You’ve built your body of work, career, and reputation steadily, with intention and integrity.

You’ve earned your authority by proving, again and again, that what you do and what you share is valuable and meaningful to others.

You’ve made it your business to figure out what’s really true, what really works, and what matters most to those you serve.

In a culture that prefers short, simple answers instead of accuracy and depth, you can be counted on for solid, rich, thoughtful, trustworthy information.

Along the way, you’ve developed your own methods and distinct points of view.

You know writing a book
is your next step.

And you are ready for it.

But you don’t want to be just another author, putting out just another book.

You won’t be satisfied pumping out a short, generic book just so your bio can say, “Author of . . .”

If you’re going to put your name on a book, you’re going to write it with the same integrity, intention, care, and thought that you bring to all your work.

You want your book to

  • Demonstrate not just knowledge, but also understanding

  • Provide substantive information readers can use and trust

  • Reflect your unique perspective, voice, and perfectly imperfect humanity

You want your readers to tell others, “You have to read this book. It helped me so much.”

You want your book to reach new people who don’t yet know you or your work.

You want readers to value your book not just tomorrow, but also years from now.

You want to be the
trusted author of a meaningful, high-value book.

Thoughtful Authors write better books.

The Thoughtful Author’s Conundrum

You didn’t expect writing a publisher-grade book would be quick and easy.

But you didn’t expect to be quite so much work or take quite so long either.

It’s frustrating because you know your work so well. After all, you’ve been teaching and sharing it for years.

Not only that, you’re used to pairing ambition with action. You’re someone who gets things done—and you don’t need a lot of hand-holding or coaching to do it.

You’re also not a complete writing novice.

The whole thing is practically already written in your head. You just need to get it out and onto the page.

But …

Your book just isn’t done yet.

And you’re not sure why or
how to get it moving it forward.

The Problem Is Not You

Seriously—the problem is not you.

I know because I’ve spent 25+ years helping authors and publishers create the kind of book you’re aiming for.

No author has ever told me, “Wow! Writing this book was so much easier than I thought it would be.”

But many authors have said, “Wow, this book was a lot more work than I thought it would be.”

That’s because there’s a lot more to “writing a book” than just getting what’s in your head out onto the page.

Most people don’t realize everything else that goes into creating a high-value, publisher-grade, reader-satisfying nonfiction book.

That “everything else” is
what I call bookcraft.

And bookcraft is my specialty.

book•craft (noun):

the art and practice of planning and executing a great book

book•smith (noun):

1. someone skilled in bookcraft

2. someone who constructs, builds, or produces books or helps others do the same

3. the help you didn’t know you needed

I want your readers to love and respect your book.

I want you to feel proud of your book.

Most of all, I want you not to give up.

Because while many authors have told me writing a book was more work than they thought it would be, none of them have said it wasn’t worth it.
