Insider Publishing Knowledge
I’ve worked with a variety of commercial trade book publishers.
I know how publishers think.
I can tell you what makes them say no to potential books—and what makes them want to say yes.
If you dream of seeing your book published by a traditional publisher, these insights will tell you what it takes.
If you’re self-publishing, you’ll learn how trade-publishing standards can make your book look professional and stand out in the marketplace.
If you’re not sure whether to pursue traditional, self-publishing, or hybrid publishing, knowing the pros and cons of each will help you decide.
Extensive Bookcraft Experience
I’ve worked on hundreds of nonfiction books and with 100+ authors.
I’ve seen books in every state—from raw first drafts to good-but-stalled mid-drafts, from drafts that barely need editing to drafts that need major overhauls.
However far you’ve gotten (or not gotten), I’ve most likely helped another author who was in the same position.
Whatever you’re wrestling with, I’ve probably seen it before (or something like it).
I’ll dip into my deep professional experience to answer your questions and give you practical information that will help you create a stronger book.
Two things those of us in book publishing know:
Behind every must-read nonfiction book is more thinking, imagining, planning, shaping, rethinking, reshaping, and decision-making—more bookcraft—than readers ever see.
Many authors are getting professional help—and it’s more help than you might expect.
Nearly every author needs help.
The trick is finding the right help.
Friends, family, colleagues, fellow aspiring authors, writing groups, creative writing teachers, that friend-of-a-friend who self-published a book—
They might be able to assist you in some ways.
But unless they’ve published books with trade publishers, or worked with the specific type of book you are writing, they can easily miss (or dismiss) the challenges those of us in the book-publishing industry see every day.
I’ve been helping nonfiction authors and their publishers craft nonfiction books for decades.
I’m ready to help you craft your book.
